Youth and Caregivers
If research is meant to help young people, then young people need to be part of it.
Youth and caregivers know what it’s really like to live with mental health challenges and that experience is powerful! Their ideas help us ask better questions, build better tools, and shape better care. Their voice makes the science stronger, fairer, and more useful for everyone.
Youth Matter. Their Voice Counts. Their Well-being Leads the Way.
We believe that mental health care should be built around what matters most to youth and caregivers - not just what’s easy to measure or what clinicians and researchers think is important or have selected and measured to date. That’s why our work starts with listening to young people and caregivers. Their voice and their experiences shape every step of our research.
🗣️ We Listen & Collaborate With Youth & Caregivers as Research Participants
We work alongside youth with lived experience and the caregivers who support them - each bringing unique and valuable perspectives - to shape our research. We create multiple opportunities for youth and caregivers to share what outcomes matter most to them, how effective our measurement tools are, and what they value in research. Their insights are reflected in the questions we ask, the tools we use, and the decisions we make throughout the research process.
🤝 We Work With Youth & Caregiver Advisors As Research Partners
Youth and caregiver advisors are integral members of our research team. They help ensure that the ideas and lived experiences of youth and caregivers guide every step of the research journey - from design to implementation to dissemination. By passing the microphone to those with lived-expertise, we seek to foster a space that honours all perspectives of youth and caregivers to ensure lived experience is embedded in our research process. Youth and caregiver partnership helps translate research into real-world impact - not just ideas on paper. Together, we’re building clinical research and care that puts the mental well-being of youth first.
